Aeronautics is the science and art of flight. The term is derived from a Greek word literally meaning 'sailing the air.' Aeronautics originally referred to the science of operating the aircraft, which basically meant piloting an aircraft. The use of the word has since been expanded to include the design, technology, repair and all aspects aspects related to flight.
